Our new prototype is under construction

Odonatum‘s construction team has officially started building our new prototype „V1 Glossu“!

The purpose of this one is to measure its lift for further design optimisations. In its construction we are trying to implement rapid prototyping, i.e. continuously work on different versions of the prototype. And since the 28th of April now, the team has been working hard at the TUM Makerspace workshop.

The first measurings have been conducted using a trusty power drill and resulted in a flapping frequency of 20 Hz!
The team later reworked the wing design and tried out some alternatives in the mechanics of the prototype which they have then compared against each other. Some tests with wind have also already happened.
